“I Love Getting Abuse”

July 31st, 2010

Emmerdale star Lyndon Ogbourne has confessed he loves getting abuse from fans – because it means he is doing a good job.

The 27-year-old plays nasty posh boy Nathan Wylde, whose underhand antics include framing his half-brother Ryan for murder.

In an interview with the Daily Record, Lyndon said: “I get quite a lot of abuse. I went to Glastonbury and I was getting a fair amount of abuse, saying I was a nasty b****** and to leave off my mum.”

He went on: “People love to hate Nathan and I love it. He’s one of the most evil characters in soap and it’s great to be given the chance to play him.

“Being abused on the street is like a reward for doing a good job.”

The actor said he would prefer to get comments from people than none at all, adding: “I wouldn’t want to be a nice character or someone who props up the bar.”

‘No Plans To Leave Emmerdale’

July 30th, 2010

Emmerdale star Lyndon Ogbourne has assured fans that he currently has “no plans” to leave the soap.

The actor, who plays schemer Nathan Wylde on the ITV1 show, spoke out about his future following the recent news that his screen family members Alice Coulthard (Maisie) and Amanda Donohoe (Natasha) have chosen to bow out.

Writing on Twitter, Ogbourne commented: “I’ve got big plans for future projects in my career, but I’m loving playing Nathan at the moment! Emmerdale is awesome to be a part of and I feel honoured to play the nasty piece of work NateDogg!”

He added: “[I'm] sad to see the Wyldes dispersing but I’m really enjoying playing Nathan, so no plans to leave yet – a long, winding, twisted road to follow Nathan down before he departs the Dales. I am excited about other filming and theatre projects that I’ll do in the future, though.”

Later, Ogbourne revealed that he is due to start filming more confrontations with his screen half-brother James Sutton (Ryan Lamb).

He said: “Got a whole batch of ED scripts to read through. I’ve flicked through some of it in bed – ridiculously exciting stuff, Ryan vs NateDogg!”

“‘Nathan’s Capable Of Murder’”

July 29th, 2010

Lyndon Ogbourne has claimed that his Emmerdale alter ego Nathan Wylde is capable of being a killer.

Speaking to the Daily Record, the actor also predicted that Nathan will meet a “horrific” end.

He said: “Nathan has become a catalyst for many of the problems within the village and a lot of people have followed up shouting abuse at me in the street by saying I was one of the reasons they tuned in to the show – to see how evil I would get.

“Viewers know that when Nathan walks into a scene potentially it’s all going to kick off. Nathan is a very determined and angry character, who in my opinion would stop at nothing to achieve what he wants.

Emmerdale Coming Up

Nathan relaxes as the police question the Wyldes about a gold chain found near Mark’s grave.

Natasha panics upon hearing the news, but Nathan assures her that their plan is starting to come together. Who does the chain belong to?

Ryan is deeply unnerved as the police question him and he can’t explain why his chain was near Mark’s grave. When officers searching Dale View discover Ryan’s jacket is covered in gun residue, it’s clear he’s going nowhere fast.

Ryan desperately tries to maintain his innocence as Faye hires him a decent solicitor. Meanwhile, Natasha guiltily comforts Maisie, who is struggling to cope.

At the police station, Ryan comes to the conclusion that Nathan framed him, but is trapped when all the forensics confirm that he killed Mark. Ryan is charged with murder, and as the news spreads through the village, Faye is on the brink as she insists she will prove Ryan’s innocent.
